“Lilith” (Painting) 4”x4”

A popular design from 2020 and 2021 now in print/painting form! The idea here is that finding the whole of yourself involves learning to see the beauty in both the parts of yourself that make you proud AND the parts of yourself that make you ashamed. The surrounding text is the text of the Ashamnu confessional from Yom Kippur. Each word is a fractured piece of ourselves that we’re supposed to hold close to our chest, making ourselves together again. 

The Old Masters used to make multiple prints of their work on which they etched over certain areas, making hybrid print and original works. In this style, I have painted over digital prints, creating a one-of-a-kind work around this sacred text.
