Look In. Look Up. Look Out. (DIGITAL)

Disclaimer: Downloading "Teshuvah," "Tefillah," and "Tzedakah" (Repentance, Prayer, and Acts of Justice) to your computer does not count as actually DOING them...I'm probably losing myself sales saying this, but ethically I must mention that you still have to DO the work. 

Artist's Statement: I originally intended these to be a continuation of my "Plague Masks" series, where I created a pattern to represent each of the ten plagues from the story of Passover, and put it on to a cloth mask (or other items). I love the idea of doing series like that (see Archie Rand's "The 613" where he did an illustration for each of the 613 mitzvot) -- however, as I created them, they turned out to be not entirely right for putting on textiles (Although if you have an idea, like a shirt or a bag...let me know). So I'm offering them as digital downloads, so people can print them as they please (or just hang on to them too). 

The Illustrations are as follows: 

Teshuvah (Repentance or literally "turning"): The heart can break...sometimes shatter, and it's so painful we exert a lot of energy trying to avoid feeling it. This is when we misstep. But when we turn inward to check our hearts, we remember that they're made out of the same stuff as the galaxies.

Tefillah (Prayer): I wanted to depict prayer in a way that captured its transcendent nature, but didn't make it seem like it was always so easy. Sometimes prayer can feel like reaching upwards when you're stuck under water. You may be afraid to call out, because you fear the water will fill your lungs, but it may actually help. 

Tzedekah: I don't know...ever since I made my hit design last summer, "fire" and "justice" have been inexorably linked in my head.......no one ever put me in charge of a social movement...
